Did You Know You Can See a Physiotherapist Without a Referral?
Not everyone knows you can go directly to your physiotherapist if you are dealing with pain or an injury. It doesn’t matter if you’re dealing with an old or new problem. You can schedule a visit with one of our therapists to get help sooner than later.
In the medical community, Direct Access is the ability to see a physiotherapist when you want to without getting permission from your physician or medical practitioner.
Physiotherapists routinely assess and treat patients without a physician’s recommendation. You can call us directly at Sports Medicine Experts in Dundas & Ancaster, ON, and we’ll schedule your appointment today! Direct Access eliminates wasting your time for the appointment to see a doctor, then the delays in getting a referral to physiotherapy and waiting for an appointment to see the therapist. Please note that some insurance providers may require a referral from a physician to use your physiotherapy coverage

FAQs
How long should each appointment take?
Physiotherapy initial assessment will be 1 hour long, with each followup around 30-45 minutes. Your specific needs will determine the number of visits and duration of your plan of care.
What office policies should I be aware of?
If you cannot make it to your appointment due to illness or another emergency, our clinic requests that you call us at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time to let us know.
Any missed appointments that have not been rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance will result in a non-refundable charge of $50 dollars.
We also ask that if you have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus or are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, please reschedule your appointment with our front desk so that we can maintain a safe, healthy environment for our patients and employees.
Can I benefit from PT treatments?
You certainly can!
Physiotherapists are highly skilled at assessing the whole person. This means we look to identify all the factors related to your condition. We understand the interconnectedness of the body and how a problem in one area may be the symptom pointing to the source of the problem in an entirely different location.
We are also skilled at identifying whether or not you are dealing with “a” problem or there are multiple issues impacting you and your function.
Everyone can benefit from physiotherapy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean physiotherapy alone is all you need. We believe in collaborating with other healthcare professionals and working with you while working with another practitioner to help you get the results you deserve.
We can discuss your options and help you decide if physiotherapy is right for you. Contact us today to learn more about how PT can help you and make an appointment with one of our dedicated staff members.
Can I choose any physiotherapy center for treatment?
Although a lot of physicians recommend a physiotherapy center they may prefer, you are under no obligation to go to that clinic. No medical practitioner, insurance company, or other entity can insist you attend a physiotherapy center. The choice is yours to make!
To put it another way, you can choose which clinic you want!
